Anyone that knows me remotely well knows that I have spent a lot of time in New Orleans (NOLA). I lived there in my formative years during ages 18 through 25. I went to Tulane University and am still in touch (closely) with several friends from the Green Wave (WOO!). I am also helplessly obsessed with New Orleans. I PINE for it. I mean, I truly PINE for it! The song, “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans” always appropriately describes this longing for the Big Easy. If you haven’t heard the song before, here you go:

Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans by The Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Ahhh…that’s better! Now that you have the appropriate ambiance to read this post, I’ll continue!

This song and my forever pining is on the brain because I am going to New Orleans TODAY. That’s right! I couldn’t be more excited! I am flying into MSY where one of my best friends, Jen, will pick me up and drive us to another best friend’s house (Jessie). Anyway, we have cooked up a fabulous plan for the visit: relax, catch up (read: constant talking and screaming and beating our legs laughing), eat at Martinique (deeee-lish) and have our palms/cards read. THAT, my friends, is going to be amazing, entertaining…and scarily accurate.

THE place to go. Bottom of the Cup!

I am sure we will end up moseying into Angelique Baby and Pippen Lane (two amazing children’s boutiques on Magazine). And, maybe we’ll spot a few celebs (Brangie? Ryan Reynolds? Yes, please!). Seriously, if anyone knows where RR will be, please tell me.

Below is primo kiddo inspiration straight from New Orleans just for you. I am sure to have LOADS more when I return. :)

Davis had this onesie when he was a tiny ‘un. It absolutely cracks me up! Find it on Etsy!

“NOLA Baby” Mardi Gras Ladder cards…clever! From Two Sprouts.

Beautiful baby blankets from NOLA’s own Mignon Faget.

One of my son’s FAVE books. Clearly, everyone eats red beans and rice on Monday’s. Come and eat it up! (And buy it on Amazon!)

Davis at 7 months old in his crawfish jammies. I bought them at Pippen Lane on Magazine Street in NOLA! He loved them, I promise. Ignore the confused look on his face!

OK. I now will admit. I am dying to find out if this kid is a boy or a girl. That’s right. I’m going to see what the stars have to say about my peanut. Surely they cannot be wrong! Davis will not take “brother” for an answer… Stay tuned for the revelation on Monday!
