I love to shop and I love clothes. I also love purses!! And, I would say, I try to be stylish but not overly trendy when I consider purchasing something for my closet. When it comes to diaper bags…this becomes a slight challenge. When Davis was a baby, I revolted and said that surely I could use a big, regular, non-diaper bag purse as a diaper bag. I quickly learned that that is the fastest way to ruin a nice Cole Haan bag (read: milk/formula/biscotti crumbs/ general you-know-what all over my bag….those smells do not come out easily!). What an expensive mistake! After that disaster, I ended up getting this handy bag from Stork Sak:

Bloom Maternity

I loved it. It was so functional and people didn’t even know it was a diaper bag (SCORE)! I got tons of complements on it. For this next babe, however, I’m looking to go in a different direction than black. Let’s take a look-see at what’s on the market these days!

Tempting…same bag but in a sassy pewter color. From Saks.

Seriously?! I am DYING over this one from Mia Bossi at Little Dudes and Divas!

Black but kick-ace!! Bliss Diaper Bags

Also from Bliss…and super stylish.

The scarf on this bag rocks! And, you can change it up if you wish. Smart!

Due Maternity

Another showstopper! Skip Hop

Kate Spade…having too much fun for summer!

Loving the mint/chocolate combo here!

Nordstrom

And for a mini-date with your hubs and baby in tow, how cute is the diaper clutch from Petunia Pickle Bottom?

Ladies: Don’t be afraid to purchase one of these beauties even if you don’t have a babe yet. The storage is sensational! I loved just putting bottled water in the sides, etc. Genius!! Also, who came up with the rough term “diaper bag.” Can we re-name it the “Mary Poppins Bag” because somehow, you manage to include everything (including floor lamps) but the kitchen sink inside of it? Or, the “Magic Bag”…anything else, please!

Oh, and I must note that I realize some of these bags are super expensive. But, the way I look at it…it’s the only purse I’ll be carrying for at least eight months. Worth. Every. Penny.

Do you have any other great bag finds? Send them my way!!

I love those Mia Bossi bags! Courtney bought one for her bestie years back and I became obsessed after seeing them. They are like secret Mary Poppins bags…no idea that they are really carrying you-know-what galore!

Love the Mary Poppins bag! Thanks for mentioning you don’t have to be a mom to have one – these are great for aunts, too. I recently took a plane trip with my 2 year old nephew and if it weren’t for my Mary Poppins bag we would all be on the no-fly list now! Plus they make a terrific beach-tote.

Courtney – Hooray that one of these was a life saver with your nefew! I mean, seriously, who DOESN’T need a Marry Poppins Bag?! Miss you, friend.

    Adrianne,

Check out http://www.amykathryn.com the Gladiola2 bag. I have last seasons style w/ navy blue trim but it’s very similar. Doesn’t look like a “magic bag” at all. Great pockets inside and out. Found it at Poppy and Stella in Annapolis. They change the style each season.
    Good luck in your quest.
